Textual analysis (Blame it on me- George Ezra)

This song is called "blame it on me" which suggests that George Ezra is having a bad time. It seems like he has that attitude where everything he does is wrong. This is reflected throughout the video. The mis-on-scene starts out with a sunny day at the beginning. This is where things are still ok for him. It then takes an extreme close up as it shows the bird poo on him. People say that's good luck but he obviously feels hard done to. This shot is used because we see it better and it exaggerates his bad luck. It's possible that this is representative of his life at this point. He then innocently has a look at it using a car window as a reflection. However, to continue the blame a child shoots him with a dart for no apparent reason. Soft lighting is still used at this stage as you see his reaction better and it's still a sunny day. I think this is used because it exaggerates how bad things are for him. Everything around him is fine but it's all going wrong for him. There is a close up on his face when he gets shot. This is to show how he feels and he can't believe how things are going. He then approaches an innocent-looking dog and attempts to stroke it. However, the dog bites him and his guitar ends up on the road. There is then a close up of the guitar getting destroyed by the police car to show the damage done. As things go wrong, the weather takes a turn for the worse and it begins to rain. Rain is often seen to be miserable, bad and depressing. This shows how his luck is and how things are going for him. It rains on him only and this is shown by a medium long shot. It shows other people bathing in the sun with an ice-cream whilst he is getting drenched. A few seconds later, it shows a close up of his miserable, wet face showing how annoyed and sad he is. A bit later, there is a close up of him catching a rugby ball. The next shot is a close up and it shows the panic on his face as he is about to get clattered by a rugby team on the street. The fact he is getting tackled by a rugby team on the street is another form of extreme exaggeration to show how unlucky he is. The next part is a close up of a woman smiling in a car as she directs towards George before she takes him out. This is where the video takes an extreme approach as a woman drives into him for no reason. Throughout the video the luck gets worse and bad things get more extreme. Towards the end of the video, it shows how he loses faith and care as he walks through the middle of a shoot-out between the police and some criminals.
