X-factor contestant representation

At the start of the clip it shows these two, young girls. They both look like they aren't going to be very successful. They come across as immature and child-like. From the background information they seem quite child-like and aren't very professional. Although it is quite stereo-tyoical, you get the impression that from their appearance they will be poor. There is novelty music playing in the background which also suggests they won't be very good and represents them poorly. They get on to the stage and then come across as very naive and ditsy. They are star-struck by the judges and then start talking about fancying Louis. This is a very unprofessional thing to do when you are trying to come across as an act capable of wining this competition. You can tell that Simon is getting frustrated as he tells Louis to move on. At this point, we have seen their introduction and you can tell that they will show the full audition. This means they'll either be very good o very bad and it's easy to guess which way this on will go. During the initial questioning from Simon, they show their attitude by messing round when asking how they know each other. Just before they begin, they still show their childish attitude and laugh as they bicker as to where they should stand.

Sexuality in society (TV shows)

American Dad is another cartoon so it's not very accurate but does mock the views of people. This video is low-quality but you can just about understand it. This shows Stan informing his son Steve of how to spot a gay person. It's very stereo-typical as it has a picture of a very camp man. It also makes the assumption that a woman in trousers must be gay. This is a negative representation as it gives gay people a bad image, that they're all the same and are very different.

Race in society (TV shows)

Family guy show their controversial side but this time with racism. This shows how people can happily tell jokes about others but be just as easily offended themselves. The man on the right tells an offencive jokes about horses as obviously in real life they don't understand. But with it being a cartoon the horse cones understand and is offended. The horse then comes back with a racist joke and the man on the right is offended. This is good and bad. It shows how in real life people are very contradictory with their morals but it also says a bad thing about black people, making the assumption they steal things.

Age in society (Films)

The Imbetweeners movie is good because it gives an honest representation of teenagers. This is a trailer for the first movie and shows what they go through on their holiday. It's not particularly positive or negative, it just shows their main interests of teenagers which are usually partying and the opposite sex.

Gender in society (TV shows)

Family guy is a controversial show due to its offensiveness. This scene shows how people associated with family guy view women.  This scene shows a very stereotypical view. This is a negative representation towards women as it shows they don't really get on and they just pretend whilst men are good with friends.

Class In Society (Newspapers)

There is often stories in the media that refer to class. The four classes are upper class which is only associated with royalty and gentry, middle class which is the likes of Doctors and lawyers, working class which is often associated with people who do labour and underclass which is people who are long-term unemployed and are sometimes career criminals.

People who work in places like Sports-direct will be working-class. This means their job wouldn't be very good, they're probably on low wages and poor hours. These people probably need their money quite a lot and the fact that their contracts have been breached means that they'll struggle to make a living. As it stands they won't be receiving a bonus which they claim to be entitled to. This doesn't really represent them as positive or negative. Whilst their poor job isn't great it's better than nothing and they show that they care by fighting for their money.
